"For more than 30 years, I’ve been working to make the web—and, increasingly, the AI systems being grafted onto it—more accessible, open, resilient, and equitable."

"Today, I’m a Principal Technical Program Manager on Microsoft’s Accessibility Engineering team. I build benchmarks, evaluation systems, agentic coding tools, and design software that help teams find and fix accessibility issues early in the process of making software. Before that, I shaped Microsoft’s accessibility innovation portfolio by leading its $25m AI for Accessibility grant program, advanced AI systems with people who have speech disabilities, and helped promising research move from proposal to proven."

"Before accessibility became my full-time focus, I helped shape Microsoft Edge’s Progressive Web App strategy, edited several W3C specifications related to Progressive Web Apps, and created the Web We Want as a listening tool for understanding what web designers and developers wanted from the web platform. Before Microsoft, I spent two decades designing, developing, consulting, teaching, and making the case for progressive enhancement, web standards, web performance, and accessibility."

"Along the way, I’ve written and contributed to a small shelf of books, published dozens of articles, and spoken at events around the world. That shelf includes Adaptive Web Design and, most recently, the sixth edition of Learning Web Design, which I co-authored with Jen Robbins."
